The Short Version
Healthy After 45 is a personal website. It describes my experience with weight loss, bariatric surgery, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, running, cycling, strength training, food, and the ongoing business of trying not to fall apart.
It is not medical advice, nutritional advice, diagnosis, treatment, or a personalized training plan. I am not a doctor, registered dietitian, physiotherapist, or personal trainer. Reading this website does not create a professional or doctor–patient relationship of any kind.
If I say something worked for me, that means exactly one thing: it worked for me. Human bodies are inconveniently individual, and mine is not an instruction manual for yours.
Speak To A Qualified Professional
Talk to an appropriately qualified healthcare professional before changing your diet, exercise, medication, supplements, or treatment—especially if you have a medical condition, take prescription medication, are recovering from surgery or injury, or have been inactive for a long time.
Do not start, stop, or change medication because of anything you read here. Do not ignore symptoms or delay professional care because a blog post sounded reassuring. Follow the advice of the professionals who know your medical history and are actually responsible for treating you.
Calculators And Nutrition Information
The BMI, calorie, and activity calculations on this website are estimates based on general formulas. Recipe calories and nutritional values are estimates as well. Different formulas, bodies, products, portions, and measuring methods produce different results.
These numbers can be useful reference points. They are not diagnoses, prescriptions, targets you must obey, or proof that everything is fine.
Exercise And Personal Responsibility
Exercise, dietary changes, supplements, and weight-loss efforts all involve risk. That risk can include injury, illness, complications, or worse. You are responsible for deciding what is appropriate for you, obtaining professional guidance when needed, and stopping when something feels wrong.
Healthy After 45 and its owner cannot guarantee any result and are not responsible for decisions you make, actions you take, or harm you experience after using information from this website.
Emergencies
If you experience chest pain, severe difficulty breathing, fainting, signs of stroke, or another possible medical emergency, stop reading the internet and contact your local emergency services immediately.
